Prior to his work with FranklinCovey, Cordell spent four years teaching English at the Air Force Academy and another three years at various universities. He served as a major in the Air Force where he taught English, was a weather forecaster, and taught meteorology to pilot training students. He received five outstanding instructor selections.
Cordell was an editor for The Journal of Technical Writing and Communication. He was also a founding editor for Corporate Environmental Strategy through Rensselaer Poly Institute. The publication recognizes successful environmental efforts in business.
Cordell’s clients represent a variety of industries including pharmaceutical, telecommunications, defense, banking, and computer technology. He also works with a number of federal agencies as well as all branches of the military.
Cordell holds PhD candidacy in Rhetoric and Communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, specializing in scientific communication. He earned an M.A. in literature at Texas Tech University. He also has a B.A. in English from the University of Washington and a B.S. equivalent from the University of Utah in meteorology.
Cordell lives with his wife, Claire, in Bedford, Massachusetts. They have three children. They enjoy travel, great food, the southwest, and books. He also enjoys woodworking, bicycling, and motorcycling (she doesn’t enjoy these much at all).
